Hi.
I'm Dougie Mathers and first met Roger at Strathclyde University where we both studied politics. I then focussed on Economic history for my Honours' year. Roger and I have remained in contact since we left Strathclyde and, although not managing to meet up very often, have maintained a valued friendship. We often bombarb each other with opinions and thoughts of current political issues,
After leaving Strathclyde I attended Moray House College of Education in Edinburgh and qualified as a Secondary School teacher of Economic History. Due to the lack of teaching jobs ,around the mid-70s, available in my chosen area, I ended up teaching in a List D school for girls in Haddington, East Lothian. I worked there for 5 years before moving back to Glasgow teaching in a Community Truancy Unit. In 1990 I retrained as a Primary School teacher and taught in this sector until I retired in 2013.
